ARCHIVE COMMITTEE
St. Mark’s Anglican Church – Archives Committee
Since 1997 the Archives Committee has had the responsibility of gathering and conserving historical material relating to the parish and organizing the data in such a manner that it is readily retrievable. This includes artifacts, historical documents, correspondence and such family histories as have been made available to the Committee. Burial information relating to St.Mark’s is readily accessible. Copies of the monument transcriptions published by the Niagara Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society relating to the three historical cemeteries of Niagara on the Lake form part of the collection, as well as Stones Sinners and Saints, published by the Niagara Historical Society.
The Committee publishes brochures providing information about parish history, church art and artifacts, the cemetery and the Addison Library. In addition to articles that have appeared in the Niagara Advance the committee has published books relating to the parish including:
St. Mark’s: Persons of Hopeful Piety – a history of the parish 1792 – 2000
Searching for Dorothy – a study of people important to the local community
St. Mark’s Storied Past – short vignettes of historical interest.
Inquiries concerning family history should be addressed to the church office. A fee will be charged for detailed searches.
