Learning Committee

The St. Mark's Learning Committee is focussed on developing a strong emphasis on Learning and Education at St. Mark's.

We believe that through Learning and Education Programs we can effectively enrich and expand our own congregation, provide unique ecumenical learning opportunities for those who live in our community, and reach out to visitors to Niagara-on-the-Lake.

For several years, St. Mark's has sponsored a well attended annual summer event featuring a series of lectures by internationally known theological speakers.  Speakers have included: Matthew Fox, John Dominic Crossan, Marcus Borg, Alan Jones, Sister Joan Chittister, Elaine Pagels, Robert Funk, Elizabeth Schussler-Fiorenza, Martin Marty.  The Lecture Series for 2009 will be held on June 12th and 13th 2009 and the speaker will be Professor Walter Bruggemann, who will also preach at the Sunday Liturgy on Sunday June 14th at 9:30am.
